The Boston Celtics suffered a tough blow Tuesday night when Marcus Smart sprained his right ankle against the Philadelphia 76ers.
Smart drove to the lane in transition and drew a foul on Joel Embiid. He came off the floor in serious pain and could hardly put any weight on his injured ankle. He did manage to shoot his two free throws before exiting the game — he did not return.
Boston’s guard was questionable before the game but it was due to a non-COVID illness — it wasn’t related to his ankle.

The extent of the injury is unknown at this point but the Celtics will have some extra time with the upcoming All-Star break to get him back as quickly as possible.
