The Boston Celtics will be without Marcus Smart and Robert Williams against the Detroit Pistons, as the Celtics look for their 10th straight win.
“They are both out,” coach Ime Udoka said. “They had to get assessed in the building today coming off the back-to-back, but the timing is probably the best with the break coming up. I don’t think it’s anything long-term so obviously tonight they will be out.”
Smart exited last night’s Celtics-76ers contest with a right ankle sprain after the guard landed on Joel Embiid’s foot. He was doubtful prior to the game. Along with Smart in being doubtful was Williams, who’s also out. Williams will miss his second straight game after missing last night’s matchup vs. Philadelphia.
Payton Pritchard, Grant Williams, and Daniel Theis will likely all receive bigger roles with the two being out. The Celtics look to go into the All-Star break (seven days) with a win.
