New England Revolution Lineup: Matt Turner, Brad Knighton Out vs. Portland Timbers, Tommy McNamara Gets Start

New England Revolution Lineup

The New England Revolution will be without goalkeeper Matt Turner (foot) Saturday night against the Portland Timbers. Because Brad Knighton (head) is out as well, the Revs will turn to Earl Edwards Jr. in their MLS season opener. Here is the Revolution lineup vs. Portland Saturday:

New England Revolution Lineup vs. Portland Timbers (2/26/22)

GK: Earl Edwards Jr.

DEF: DeJuan Jones, Omar Gonzalez, Andrew Farrell, Brandon Bye

MID: Matt Polster, Tommy McNamara, Sebastian Lletget, Carles Gil

FWD: Adam Buksa, Gustavo Bou

Edwards will try to prove himself capable of being Turner’s predecessor. Henry Kessler is also dealing with a knock, making Omar Gonzalez’s debut predictable. Sebastian Lletget will also make his first appearance with the team.

Tommy McNamara was the choice in center midfield, over both Wilfried Kaptoum and Arnor Traustason, which not all fans will agree with. Gustavo Bou and Adam Buksa will lead the line with Carles Gil sitting right behind. Jozy Altidore will make a substitute appearance up top in the second half.
