The New England Patriots are expected to not franchise tag cornerback J.C. Jackson and are expected to let the 27-year-old hit free agency, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.
Jackson should be expecting a big payday this offseason, as he’ll hit the open market following 17 interceptions over the past two seasons. The cornerback has spent his four seasons being a top corner on New England’s defense, stepping into the top role after Stephon Gilmore left.
Free agency begins on March 16, and Jackson has made it loud and clear that he would like to be paid. He’s regarded as the top corner in this year’s free agency class, and plenty of teams will likely be willing to spend some money on Jackson.
