MLB Lockout: 2 More Red Sox Series, Including Slate vs. Yankees Canceled as Opening Day Pushed Back to April 15

Red Sox

Two more Boston Red Sox series have been canceled, including what was the re-scheduled version of Opening Day vs. the Yankees at Yankee Stadium on Friday, April 8th. Opening Day has been pushed back to April 15 as they remain unable to agree to a deal to end the MLB lockout.

Opening Day is now scheduled to be at Fenway Park, Friday, April 15th vs. the Twins, as four series in total have now been canceled. The league and the players association did not meet the March 9 deadline — which was set by the league — to agree to a deal.

In addition, the MLB announced that Spring Training games won’t start until March 18. Minor leaguers have been getting all of the attention from Boston’s front office and major league coaching staff so far, with major leaguers not permitted in the facility.
