The third line of Craig Smith, Trent Frederic, and Charlie Coyle has begun to caught fire, as they scored all three Boston Bruins goals Saturday night in the team’s 3-2 win over the Arizona Coyotes.
Boston got on the board early as Smith, just two and a half minutes in, collected a rebound to open the scoring, and just eight and a half minutes later he collected his own rebound to make it 2-0 Bruins.
In the dying seconds of the second period, Clayton Keller one-timed Anton Stralman’s pass past Jeremy Swayman at the point to cut the two-goal deficit in half, as it went in with less than a second left on the clock. Arizona was then able to tie it just over two minutes into the third period, as Nick Ritche collected a rebound to make it 2-2.
Neither team was able to generate many chances in the third after Ritchie’s goal, until a 2-on-1 with Smith and Charlie Coyle resulted in Coyle backhanding one top shelf past Karel Vejmelka with just over three minutes left in the affair — as Boston took the 3-2 lead and ran away with it.
Boston will receive a three-day rest before taking on the Blackhawks Tuesday, at 8:30 p.m. ET.
