The Boston Celtics locked up a roster spot as they signed Malik Fitts, the 6-foot-8 forward, to a two-year deal. Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reported that the deal will include partially guaranteed money and will keep him in Boston until the end of next season.
Fitts, 24, was previously signed to two 10-day contracts and played a total of five minutes with Boston this season. His official addition to the team leaves the Celtics with just one open roster spot for the rest of the year.
Ime Udoka said in the past that he is looking for guys to fit his team and he likes what Fitts brings to the table.
“I’ve seen Malik in the past at St. Mary’s, Ime Udoka said in February. “We’re looking for a specific skillset with these guys, how they match to our team and we like how they fit into that role.”
Fitts will have a real chance to improve this summer and see if he can crack the rotation.
