The Boston Red Sox picked up a 3-2 win over the Orioles Sunday afternoon as Tanner Houck made his 2022 debut on the mound. The Sox stay undefeated, moving to 4-0. Notes from the action:
- The Sox’s only runs came in the third, as five hits in six at-bats for Boston amounted to three runs — Christian Arroyo doubled home Franchy Cordero, while Xander Bogaerts and J.D. Martinez followed him with RBI hits of their own
- Gilberto Jimenez had a single to go along with a stolen base in his one at-bat
- Bobby Dalbec, Kole Cottam, Cordero, and Jackie Bradley Jr. each shared one-hit days as well
—
- Houck struggled but got out of his 2.2 innings of work allowing just one run
- Houck let up a solo blast in the first inning to Ramon Urias, before letting up a trio of walks in the second but a Bradley Jr. throw home after a flyout to center turned into a double play — he would start the third and got the first two outs before handing it over to Geoff Hartlieb
- Kutter Crawford replaced Hartlieb after just a batter of work for Hartlieb, hurling a 1-2-3 inning
- Josh Winckowski, Taylor Cole, Tyler Danish, and Eduard Bazardo would all hurl a scoreless inning of work after Crawford
- Durbin Feltman let up a solo big fly in his one inning of work
- Winckowski let up a pair of hits, Bazardo yielded a one-hit inning
Boston takes on the Braves tomorrow at 1:05 p.m. ET.
