The Boston Celtics routed the Washington Wizards Sunday afternoon in the C’s’ final regular season home game of the 2022 NBA season at the TD Garden, while Jaylen Brown scored 32 points in the blowout victory.
Boston was out in front from the get-go and the lead just kept getting larger and larger throughout the affair, as the Celtics had a total of 39 assists; Al Horford had six, Jayson Tatum and Marcus Smart had seven, while Brown and Derrick White had five to go along with others. Along with Brown’s 32 points, Tatum had 22, White tallied 17, while Grant Williams had 16 to go along with Payton Pritchard’s 14 and Horford’s 10.
As Boston saw their lead get larger and larger, role players saw lots of minutes. Sam Hauser dished out three assists while Luke Kornet and Aaron Nesmith — who had 11 points and a pair of assists — both matched his eight minutes of action. Malik Fitts also saw a three-assist day to go along with five points through six minutes.
With the win, the Celtics are now just 1.5 games behind the Heat, at 49-30 on the season as Boston finishes their season with a trio of games on the road; the Chicago Bulls on Wednesday, the Milwaukee Bucks (48-30, 0.5 behind Boston) Thursday, and they end their successful year Sunday against the Memphis Grizzlies.
