The Boston Bruins take on the Detroit Red Wings Tuesday night in the second night of a back-to-back. Head coach Bruce Cassidy gave an update on David Pastrnak and Trent Frederic after they suffered injuries in last night’s win over the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Cassidy says Pastrnak’s injury that came in the third period was a reaggravation of an injury that was suffered last month against the Jets.

“I don’t know if this is the exact same thing or not — I just found out,” Cassidy said Tuesday Morning.

“It might be that he hasn’t completely healed. If that ends up being the case – if that’s the message we get that he’s gonna need whatever amount of time to get it right,” added Cassidy. “I don’t think it’s long-term, but we’ll put him as day-to-day. But who knows?”

Frederic will also be out Tuesday night after his upper-body injury that he suffered in the second period of Monday night’s game.

With both Frederic and Pastrnak out, the lines will be jumbled Tuesday as Derek Forbort will return after missing a game due to a lower-body injury but Josh Brown and Connor Clifton will be healthy scratches. Also, Curtis Lazar will be a healthy scratch — Boston’s fourth line will feature a young trio.

Clifton will be a healthy scratch for his third straight game.

“The thing about Cliffy is we know his game,” said Cassidy. “He’s out a little bit more because we don’t know Brown, first of all, he’s gonna get more looks, and we haven’t seen (Mike) Reilly on the right side a lot. There’s a little bit of that going on, evaluation.

“(Clifton) will get back in, but right now we have some other people we have to look at in that spot on the third pair right side being Brown and Reilly.”
