Bruins’ David Pastrnak, Hampus Lindholm Out Friday vs. Lightning; Trent Frederic Returns

Bruins

The Boston Bruins take on the Tampa Bay Lightning Friday night as David Pastrnak and Hampus Lindholm are out while Trent Frederic returns after missing Tuesday’s loss to the Detroit Red Wings.

Pastrnak missed Tuesday’s game as Frederic did, while Lindholm suffered an injury in Tuesday’s game. Pastrnak and Frederic both left Monday’s game against the Blue Jackets early. The only player with closure on their injury was Frederic (upper body).

“Hopefully (Lindholm) gets on the ice (Saturday),” said head coach Bruce Cassidy Friday morning. “Pasta didn’t skate. I would say Lindholm is a little ahead of Pasta in terms of who will play next. But, certainly, neither tonight.”

With that, Marc McLaughlin will slide into the second line with Erik Haula and Taylor Hall. Connor Clifton will also return after being a healthy scratch for the past four games. Frederic will return to his usual third line with Charlie Coyle and Craig Smith, while Linus Ullmark will be in net for the B’s.

Hall commented on playing with Billerica native and Boston College alumn McLaughlin Friday morning.

“I think he plays with a lot of pace, he’s got a really good shot,” said Hall. “For him, it’s just about getting open and we’ll read off him. That’s the way it goes when guys are missing out of the lineup. You’ve got to figure out ways to play with different players.

“It’s not always going to be perfect. If Erik and I can help him out tonight in any way possible, then hopefully we can play in their end as much as we can, and we’ll be fine.”
