Boston Bruins 2, Pittsburgh Penguins 1: Shorthanded B’s Clinch Playoff Berth, Snap 3-Game Skid

Bruins

While it wasn’t much of a question whether the Boston Bruins would make the playoffs, they got the job done, as they beat the Pittsburgh Penguins Saturday afternoon, 2-1.

It took just 49 seconds for the B’s to get on the board, as Craig Smith threw one on net before Trent Frederic, who’s seen a decline in his play recently, cashed in on the rebound, and just a minute later at 17:59, Erik Haula threw one on net to take the 2-0 lead.

After scoring two within the first two minutes, they wouldn’t score again, but it would be enough as the Penguins would pick up a goal five minutes into the second period but wouldn’t score again. With the Islanders’ loss, Boston was able to clinch.

Shorthanded Boston snaps their three-game losing streak while Brandon Carlo returned from his injury.
