Red Sox Lineup: J.D. Martinez Scratched, Out For Seventh Game in Past 10; Nathan Eovaldi Starts vs. Orioles

Boston Red Sox

J.D. Martinez was scratched from the original Boston Red Sox lineup, as he’s out for the seventh game in the past 10 with his left adductor injury. Manager Alex Cora said one more day yesterday, but that appears to not be the case. Boston will send Nathan Eovaldi to the mound while Christian Arroyo will fill in as DH Saturday.

Alex Verdugo also moves to the cleanup spot, while Bobby Dalbec is back in the lineup after a night off. Trevor Story remains in the leadoff spot while Kevin Plawecki will catch Eovaldi, who hopes to lead Boston to their second straight win.

Boston is 9-12 and could use a sweep of Baltimore to get back on track before Mike Trout, Shohei Ohtani, and the Angels come to town.
